As a state representative, Dario Anselmo led his community by example.
He passed legislation that boosted local businesses with tax relief, equipped educators with funds, and actively protected the health of Minnesota’s lakes. His drive to bring lawmakers together helped advance mental health and public safety across the state.
Hailing proudly from Duluth, Dario grew up in Minneapolis’ western suburbs, where he started his first company at the age of 21. After growing and eventually selling that business, his love of flying and music led him to another formative experience: owning the Fine Line Music Café in downtown Minneapolis. Through years of work, he transformed the Fine Line into a thriving business and cultural institution, hosting artists and leaders ranging from George Clinton to President Bill Clinton, Sheryl Crow, Maroon 5, and Lady Gaga. Dario continues to be involved in commercial real estate ventures.
Alongside his businesses, Dario has been an active community leader for decades, focused on education, mental health, and creating a vibrant downtown. He has served on the boards of the Edina Education Fund and Edina Give and Go, was president of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance for over 10 years, and is a longtime board member of the Minnesota Mental Health Association. He also co-founded the Warehouse District Business Association and served on the Minneapolis Downtown Council for more than a decade.
In the Minnesota House of Representatives, Dario was honored to represent people from the western suburbs and across the state. He served on education and environmental committees, advancing programs that supported disadvantaged youth and protected natural resources. As one of the chamber’s most moderate members, Dario worked to put his “purple” message into action—bringing red and blue together to put people over politics.
Dario loves getting out to hear live music, reading about history, hitting the road on his bike, and skiing with his family.
